21st Day (2nd day in Cambodia)

The plan of today was to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat (the main temple), so I had to wake up at 4:45am, Yong picked me up at 5 and we were there at about 5:30. There were a lot of people but the atmosphere was calm and serene. Every one was waiting in silence for the sun to rise. The sunrise in Angkor Wat is pretty special because the temple is "looking" to the West so the view is spectacular at sunrise. But there were some clouds so it wasn't as beautiful as it should have been, and some restorations were made so there were some ugly blue scaffoldings on the temple ... So well my first expectations of Angkor were a bit disappointed. But of course there were many other temples to see, and I got more and more impressed as the hours were passing by !! I will show you pictures instead of describing the temples to you, because you'll have a much better impression of what I saw there.

In the evening (I followed the advice of my mom), I went to see a show of Beat Richner (stage name Beatocello), a swiss doctor who has built five children's hospitals in Cambodia (actually the only ones in Cambodia!), which are free of charge and corruption! It was very touching and convincing !!
